Under the direction of the Director of Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Program, the Advocate, will be responsible to providing cultural specific, trauma informed and survivor centered support to victims /survivors of DV&SA through: intakes, assessments, supported referrals, advocacy, support groups, follow-ups, and other necessary services.

1. Conduct client intakes and assessment

2. Provide crisis intervention and support services

3. Accompany clients to courts or other important appointments

4. Manage caseload in a timely and effective way

5. Provide limited translation and interpretation while assisting clients in navigating systems

6. Collect and maintain accurate client data to assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and semiannual reports

7. Participate in outreach activities to educate and inform Brazilian, Cape Verdean and Portuguese immigrant communities, about domestic violence and sexual assault, and services available

8. Practice personal safety planning while accompanying clients to public venues

9. Adhere to regular clinical supervision

Preferred: Experience providing support to survivors of domestic violence & sexual assault, and performing community outreach, desirable, but training will be provided. Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of experience in social services. Trauma informed and survivor centered counseling/ direct client services experience preferred, along with knowledge of the Brazilian, Cape Verdean and Portuguese communities.

Required: Bilingual/Bicultural in Portuguese/ English/Cape Verdean Creole a plus, strong oral and written communications skills, and ability to work in stressful situations.

Starting annual salary range commensurable with experience: $50.000-$56.000.
