The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) is inviting community members to take part in its first-ever Chip-In for Charity Golf Tournament, which will take place on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the Juniper Hill Golf Course, in Northborough, MA.

The purpose of the tournament is to raise funds to support the MAPS Senior Center in Cambridge, a linguistically and culturally competent space designed to prevent isolation and promote wellness through case management and daily social and recreational activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, and nutritional meals.

The tournament, co-chaired by Rui Domingos, CEO of Naveo Credit Union, and Walter Souza, owner of Inman Square Wine & Spirits, will start at 8 am with a breakfast reception and registration, and will kick off at 9 am, followed by a lunch and silent auction from 2 to 3:30 pm.

There are several sponsorship opportunities available, with different sets of benefits, ranging from Titanium Sponsorship at $2500, to Tee/ Green Sponsorship at $250. Businesses and organizations interested in sponsoring the event should contact MAPS before Monday, August 6, 2018, and players can submit their registrations until Monday, September 10, 2018.

“When we learned that the MAPS Senior Center was facing budget cuts that could jeopardize the quality of the services it provides to the most vulnerable members or our communities, we knew we had to help in any way we could,” said Rui Domingos.

“It is essential that we help out the organizations making a difference in our communities,” added Walter Souza. “The MAPS Senior Center is definitely worthy of our support. It only takes one visit to realize that it’s a loving, welcoming space that is a second home to many in our community.”

“We are incredibly lucky to be able to rely on the support of our friends Rui and Walter, and many other generous businesses and organizations,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS Executive Director. “They have been outstanding supporters of MAPS throughout the years, and we are very thankful that they took the initiative to host this event.”
