The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) invites the community to attend its 5th Annual Chip-In For Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 15th, at the Sandy Burr Country Club, in Wayland, MA.

This year marks the fifth edition of the tournament that raises funds to support the health and social services organization’s Senior Center in Cambridge. To celebrate this incredible milestone, MAPS has set a bigger goal: to expand the daily operations of the Senior Center to five days a week from the current four. To reach the #5years5days goal MAPS needs support from the community.

“We are always looking for new ways to expand and improve the services that we provide for our beloved seniors,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS Executive Director. “Our goal this year is to raise $75,000, and that would allow us to operate the Senior Center on Fridays as well, keeping it open 5 days per week.”

The MAPS Cambridge Senior Center is a linguistically and culturally competent space designed to prevent isolation and promote wellness through case management and daily social and recreational activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, and nutritious meals.

Co-chaired by Rui Domingos, CEO of MIT Federal Credit Union, and Walter Sousa, owner of Inman Square Wine & Spirits, the tournament will kick off at 8 AM with a breakfast reception and registration, followed by a shotgun start at 9 AM, and then a Luncheon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Interested players are encouraged to visit the tournament’s website at www.maps-inc.org/golf to register.

“For the first time, the tournament will take place at the Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland. We are looking forward to playing at an exciting new course this year, having a fun day with friends, and supporting the MAPS Senior Center,” said Rui Domingos.

“It is essential that we help organizations like MAPS that make a big and positive impact in our communities,” added Walter Sousa. “I am honored to support the MAPS Senior Center and very proud to see that the seniors can rely on the organization for a safe and welcoming environment.”

There are several sponsorship opportunities available, ranging from Anniversary Sponsorship at $5000 to Tee/ Green Sponsorships at $300.
