The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS)’ Board of Directors elected a new slate of officers for the 2020-2022 term at its monthly meeting on November 25, 2020.
Arlington resident Susan Pacheco, Executive Director of the Cambridge Council on Aging, was re-elected as the Board President. She has served on the MAPS Board since 2015.
Raymond Estrella, MBA, from Somerville, was re-elected to serve as the Board’s Vice-President. He has been a MAPS Board Member since 2012 and is a Controller at the Home for Little Wanderers.
Mary Ann Lomba, MBA, from Boston, will serve a second term as the Board’s Treasurer. She has been a MAPS Board Member for the past 27 years, having served in various roles. Now retired, Lomba worked as a budgeting and forecasting analyst and manager in the high-tech field as well as in the non-profit sector.
Elizabeth Chaves will be the Board’s new Secretary, taking over for Patricia de Oliveira. Chaves, a Salem resident, has served on the Board since 2008 and is a former Board President, as well as a former MAPS Director of Finances. She is currently the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at Rosie’s Place.
“I want to thank the Chair of the Board Affairs Committee, Elizabeth Chaves, for leading the process to elect the new slate of Officers and volunteering to serve as the new Board Secretary. We are also extremely grateful for Patricia’s dedicated service as Board Secretary for the last four years, which she did outstandingly,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS Executive Director. “I am also very pleased that Susan, Raymond, and Mary Ann have agreed to continue to serve as Officers of the Board. I look forward to continue to work with them on behalf of our community and organization. Their leadership is critical to our continued stability and success.”
