The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers’ (MAPS) Board of Directors voted unanimously on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, to approve the organization’s budget for the Fiscal Year 2023 (FY 23) and to change the title of the Executive Director to Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The budget also includes the creation of a Chief Program Officer (CPO), which will be a new key leadership position at MAPS.

“This new leadership role at MAPS will provide much-deserved support to our esteemed Chief Executive Officer Paulo Pinto,” said Susan Pacheco, MAPS Board President. “This is the result of MAPS’ continued growth and the need for additional leadership capacity.”

“After 22 years of slowly building the infrastructure of the organization, I am very excited that we will now have a Chief Program Officer,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS CEO. “The new CPO will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation, sustainability, and expansion of our many health and social service programs. The new structure will allow me to focus more on building strategic opportunities for the organization, including new partnerships with funders and community organizations, as well as support, sustain and lead MAPS’ growing team of highly dedicated and qualified professionals.”

Pinto also announced that the title of the organization’s Director of Finances Lynda Paris has been changed to Chief Financial Officer (CFO), which also reflects the increased capacity of the organization.

During the last Board Meeting of the fiscal year, the MAPS Board of Directors celebrated the incredible successes achieved during FY22 and reviewed in detail the budget for FY23, which includes over $4M in revenues to sustain the stability of the organization and plan for the continued growth of programs, staff leadership capacity and service locations.
