The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers’ (MAPS) Board of Directors recently welcomed Portuguese-American Victoria Franco, MBA, and Brazilian-American Jamila Xible, MA, as its newest members. The board, now with fifteen volunteer members, gathers monthly to provide governance and fiscal oversight of the health and social services nonprofit organization.
Boston resident Victoria Franco joined the organization’s board in late May 2025 after several years of supporting MAPS as a volunteer in its Development department, where she helped plan and execute the MAPS Annual Awards Gala’s fundraising auction. The descendant of Azorean immigrants is a highly experienced marketing professional and an expert in event management, social media, development, communications, and analytics. Franco holds a Masters in Business Administration with a focus on marketing from UMass Boston and is the Digital Marketing and Website Leader at SRM, a USA-based financial consulting company.
Jamila Xible, who lives in Lexington, brings more than two decades of experience in community engagement, health equity, and nonprofit leadership to the MAPS Board. A native of Brazil, Xible currently serves as Director of Community Engagement at Health Care For All, where she leads statewide efforts to empower communities and advance health justice through culturally responsive public health campaigns. She holds a Master’s degree in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and a Bachelor’s degree from Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo in Brazil. She is fluent in Portuguese and English, and serves on several advisory boards focused on community health and elder services.
