The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) is inviting community members to take part in the second edition of the Annual Chip-In for Charity Golf Tournament, which will take place on Friday, September 13, 2019, at the Juniper Hill Golf Course, in Northborough, MA.

The purpose of the tournament is to raise funds to support the MAPS Senior Center in Cambridge, a linguistically and culturally competent space designed to prevent isolation and promote wellness through case management and daily social and recreational activities every Monday through Thursday, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, and nutritious meals.

The tournament, co-chaired by Rui Domingos, CEO of Naveo Credit Union, and Walter Sousa, owner of Inman Square Wine & Spirits, will kick off at 8 AM with a breakfast reception and registration, followed by a shotgun start at 9 AM, and then lunch and a silent auction from 2:00 to 3:30 PM.

“After a successful 1st annual tournament in 2018, which saw us raise more than $41,000, we are hitting the links again to raise $45,000 to ensure that our communities’ seniors can continue to receive the help they need and deserve as they age,” said Rui Domingos.

“It’s a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, spend some fun time outdoors, and, most of all, to support this great cause which means so much to all of us,” added Walter Sousa.

There are several sponsorship opportunities available, with different sets of benefits, ranging from Titanium Sponsorship at $2500, to Tee/ Green Sponsorships at $250. Businesses and organizations interested in sponsoring the event should contact MAPS before Monday, August 19, 2019, and players can submit their registrations until Friday, September 6, 2019.

“We are always look for ways to improve and expand the services to our seniors,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS Executive Director. “Our goal this year is to raise $45,000, but if we’re lucky to raise $65,000 with the support of our community, that would allow us to operate the Senior Center on Fridays as well, keeping it open 5 days per week.”
