The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) invites the community to attend its highly anticipated 7th Annual Chip In For Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, September 20th, 2024. The event will be held at the Juniper Hill Golf Course in Northborough, MA, and aims to raise funds to support the health and social services organization’s senior center in Cambridge.
Co-chaired by Rui Domingos, CEO of MIT Federal Credit Union, and Walter Sousa, owner of Inman Square Wine & Spirits, the tournament is a fun-filled day for both avid golfers and casual players, featuring a challenging course, exciting competitions, and an online auction. The event will kick off at 8 AM with a breakfast reception and registration, followed by a shotgun start at 9 AM, and then a Luncheon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Interested sponsors and players are encouraged to visit the tournament’s website at maps-inc.org/golf to register.
“We look forward to gathering once again at the Juniper Hill Golf Course to enjoy a wonderful day of golfing and, most importantly, to raise funds to support our dear seniors,” said Rui Domingos.
“We are very grateful to our community for always stepping up to support this important cause and we are confident that this year’s tournament will also be a great success,” added Walter Sousa.
This year’s tournament aims to raise $75K to enable MAPS to continue to serve the almost 50 seniors who attend the center daily with the quality of care that they need and deserve.
“We deeply appreciate the unwavering support of our communities and are grateful for our business leaders will play a crucial role in achieving our fundraising goals this year,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS CEO. “Our Senior Center is increasingly important as our immigrant seniors continue to face profound challenges—from financial insecurity and housing instability to loneliness and a lack of support.”
The MAPS Cambridge Senior Center is a linguistically and culturally competent space designed to prevent isolation and promote wellness through comprehensive case management and daily social and recreational activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, and nutritious meals. It currently serves almost 50 Portuguese-speaking seniors from Brazil, Portugal, Cabo Verde, and other countries from Monday through Friday.
