The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) will keep all of its offices closed until April 6, 2020, in an effort to ensure the safety of its employees and clients during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The organization will continue to provide telephone consultations and assistance to clients seeking information and referrals over the telephone and social media, and will keep assessing the evolution of the virus to determine when to resume normal operations.
All clients with appointments scheduled for this period will be contacted for a telephone consultation and, when needed, follow-up appointments will be scheduled for a future date. MAPS employees will be checking the voicemails hourly on a daily basis, Monday through Friday, and will return calls within 24 hours if necessary.
The MAPS Senior Center in Cambridge will also remain closed until April 6, and MAPS staff will continue to call the seniors on a daily basis, making sure that they are in good physical and mental health during this time. The health and social services organization urges clients facing emergencies to contact 911 immediately, and those exhibiting symptoms of Coronavirus or other medical needs to reach out to their doctors.
All Driver Alcohol Education classes, Intimate Partner Abuse Educational Program meetings, support groups for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and the weekly HIV/ STI Clinics will also be suspended until April 6.
