The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) is inviting community members to the grand opening of its new office in Everett, located at 792 Broadway, on Thursday, June 27, from 4 to 7 PM.
In addition to a ribbon-cutting ceremony between 5:30 and 6 PM and a tour of the new office, guests will be able to get to know the health and social services organization’s many programs, services, and staff while enjoying musical entertainment with local drumming group Grooversity, appetizers, wine, and other refreshments. Those interested in attending should RSVP by June 25 by contacting Lucinda Morais, MAPS Director of Administration and HR, at lmorais@maps-inc.org, or by calling 617-864-7600.
The new 4000-square-foot building, purchased in August of 2023, will host many MAPS programs and services, including Child and Family Clinical Services, Immigrant Integration, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, HIV/ STI Prevention and Screening, and more. The space includes two apartments on the second and third floors that the organization is renting to offset the cost of the investment.
“This was a great investment and milestone for MAPS, and we are delighted to finally open our seventh office in the heart of the Portuguese-speaking community in Everett,” said MAPS CEO, Paulo Pinto, MPA. “We are excited to be able to provide our crucial health and social services to many more community members in Everett and surrounding areas.”
Massachusetts State Senator Sal DiDomenico, who recently toured the new office as the renovation work wrapped up, will be one of several public officials speaking at the ceremony, along with Everett City Councilor Stephanie Martins, Everett School Committee member Marcony Almeida, and others.
