The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) has postponed its 50+1 Anniversary Gala to the fall of 2021 due to concerns over the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The organization will continue to assess public health restrictions and plans to hold an outdoor celebration at a date and location to be announced at the end of April.

Initially scheduled for April 24, 2021, at the Boston Marriott Hotel in Cambridge, the MAPS 50+1 Anniversary Gala will celebrate the rich history of the organization by honoring the “Builders of MAPS”, a group of more than 50 individuals who were instrumental in its creation, development, and expansion over the last five decades.

“It is hard to believe that it has now been almost a year since the start of the pandemic,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS Executive Director. “As we continue to follow all of the preventive measures and the vaccination efforts that are currently underway, we hope to be able to safely celebrate the more than half a century of history of our organization with our community later this fall with a glamorous outdoor event.”

MAPS thanks the many sponsors who have already confirmed their sponsorship for the 50+1 Anniversary Gala: Dunkin’ Franchise owners, the Cafua, Carvalho, Couto, Rodrigues, Sardinha, and Serpa families (Diamond Sponsors); Naveo Credit Union, Joe and Dorothy Chaves Foundation (Platinum Sponsors); Accutronics, Inc., East Cambridge Savings Bank (Gold Sponsors); Cambridge Health Alliance, MS Walker Imports (Silver Sponsors), Alnylam Pharmaceuticals; Cabot Risk Strategies, LLC; Cambridge Printing Company; Cruz Companies; Eastern Bank Foundation, Rocco’s Restaurant and Bar, and S&F Concrete, (Bronze Sponsors).
