The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) is seeking award nominations for its 2023 Awards Gala, which will take place on April 22, 2023, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge.
MAPS is inviting community members to submit nominations in three different award categories: Mary and Manuel Rogers Lifetime Community Service, Alvaro Lima Outstanding Business, and the Person of the Year Award. The nominations can be submitted online by clicking here or by calling 617-864-7600, and entries must be submitted by Monday, September 19, 2022, at 5 pm. The list of award recipients will be announced later this fall.
The MAPS Annual Awards Gala honors distinguished individuals and organizations who have made great contributions to the lives of Portuguese speakers and other community members in Massachusetts.
“Our gala is our main annual fundraiser, but most of all, it is a wonderful cultural celebration of our communities and the many successes and accomplishments of its distinguished members,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to welcoming our friends and supporters, as well as the many business and community leaders, public officials, and community members who help make our gala a success, to the Sonesta’s beautiful ballroom. Everyone is invited to this beautiful annual celebration, so please mark your schedules for April 22nd of next year.”
“If you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their accomplishments, please reach out to us,” said MAPS Board President Susan Pacheco. “It’s always an honor each year to recognize outstanding community members who are positive role models making a big difference in the lives of others.
The private, nonprofit organization relies on its annual Gala fundraiser, as well as government contracts, private grants, individual donations and other resources, to keep offering much-needed culturally and linguistically competent health and social services for Brazilians, Cabo Verdeans, Portuguese and other community members in Massachusetts.
