The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) is holding its 2020 Annual Meeting virtually on Tuesday, October 27, from 6 to 7 PM, a decision made by the Board of Directors in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. MAPS invites its members and the public to attend the online video conference to hear about the challenges and accomplishments of the past fiscal year.
The health and social services organization is also seeking nominations to its Board of Directors and encouraging its members to apply themselves or submit the names of other community members who might be interested in joining. MAPS will begin mailing out nomination forms to current members by Friday, September 25, 2020, which should be returned by mail or in person through October 8, at 1 PM.
If you are interested in running for a Board position and are not yet a MAPS member, you can join online at maps-inc.org/join and then submit your Board nomination by contacting Lucinda Morais at (617) 864-7600.
MAPS members will also be able to vote early by mail or online for Board members in the Annual Election, and more information about the voting process will be made available in the weeks to come.
“Our Board of Directors plays a fundamental role in overseeing our work and guiding us as we strive to be true to our mission of empowering our communities across Massachusetts,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS Executive Director. “We want to encourage members of the Portuguese-speaking community to join that mission by being a part of our diverse, engaged, and dedicated Board of Directors.”
MAPS has served the Portuguese-speaking communities of Massachusetts and others since 1970. The organization offers a wide range of free health and social services through its six offices in Cambridge, Somerville, Brighton, Dorchester, Framingham, and Lowell.
