The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) will begin offering COVID-19 vaccines to community members at weekly clinics starting in early June 2021. The health and social services organization has also created a Portuguese-language COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline at 888-509-7788 for information and scheduling vaccine appointments with MAPS and other providers.
In collaboration with Health Innovations, Inc. (HI), MAPS will organize two weekly clinics at its offices and other community locations such as churches and social clubs. HI will provide technical and medical support, while MAPS will coordinate and staff the clinics. The vaccine hotline is open Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.
“If you or your loved ones still aren’t vaccinated against COVID-19, please reach out to MAPS and remember that vaccines are available for free for everyone,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS Executive Director. “Getting vaccinated is the most effective way of protecting ourselves, putting an end to this pandemic, and safely reuniting with our friends and loved ones.”
The organization is also launching a multimedia outreach campaign on traditional and social media to promote vaccination among the Portuguese-speaking communities of Massachusetts with funding provided by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH).
