President, MAPS Board of Directors

Paula C. Coutinho, LICSW has been a member of the MAPS Board of Directors since 2011 and is currently the Board President. A native of Portugal, of Cabo Verdean descent, Ms. Coutinho immigrated to the US in 1991. She holds a BA in History and a Masters in Social Work (MSW), both degrees from Boston College; and holds licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.

Ms. Coutinho is currently employed as a Field Education Coordinator and the Director of Graduate Admissions at the Rhode Island College, School of Social Work.

Previously she was employed as a Clinical Social Worker at the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA).

Prior to this position, she provided consulting services to the MA Department of Children and Families (formerly DSS) overseeing a grant under the Housing and Stabilization Unit. Ms. Coutinho was the Program Coordinator for the MA Department of Public Health’s Batterer Intervention Program from 2004-2006. She had worked with MAPS from 1999-2004, in the agency’s former Division of Social Services.
