– Fundraiser to take place on September 12, 2025, at the Juniper Hill Golf Course in Northborough –
The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) invites community members and supporters to attend its 8th Annual Chip In for Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, September 12th, 2025. The event will take place at the Juniper Hill Golf Course in Northborough, MA, and aims to raise $90,000 in support of the health and social services organization’s Senior Center in Cambridge.
Co-chaired by Rui Domingos, CEO of MIT Federal Credit Union, and Walter Sousa, owner of Inman Square Wine & Spirits, the tournament offers a fun-filled day for both avid golfers and casual players, featuring a challenging course, exciting competitions, and an online auction. The event kicks off at 8:00 AM with breakfast and registration, followed by a shotgun start at 9:00 AM, and then a luncheon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Interested sponsors and players are encouraged to register at maps-inc.org/golf.
“Each year at Juniper Hill, we see how powerful this event can be—not just for golf, but for the seniors who count on our support,” said Rui Domingos.
“The way our community continues to rally behind this cause is truly touching. We’re confident this year will be no different,” added Walter Sousa.
This year’s tournament aims to raise a record-breaking $90,000 to help MAPS continue serving the many seniors who attend the center daily with the high-quality care and support they need and deserve.
“We deeply appreciate the continued support from our communities and business leaders, whose partnership is key to our success,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, CEO of MAPS. “Thanks to their generosity, our tournament has become the main funding source for our Senior Center and is essential to ensuring it remains a place where our dear seniors feel supported, valued, and connected.”
The MAPS Cambridge Senior Center is a linguistically and culturally competent space designed to prevent isolation and promote wellness through comprehensive case management and daily social and recreational activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, and nutritious meals. It currently serves nearly 70 Portuguese-speaking seniors from Portugal, Brazil, Cabo Verde, and other countries, Monday through Friday.
Several sponsorship opportunities are available, ranging from Presenting Sponsorships at $5,000 to Tee/Green Sponsorships at $400.
