It is with heavy and grieving hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our colleague, mentor, Board member, and dear friend, Mary Ann Lomba, on December 28, 2025.
Mary Ann devoted more than three decades of her life to MAPS and to the community we serve. Since joining the Board in 1992, she offered her time, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to our community’s success and well-being with remarkable generosity and care.
Her integrity, thoughtful leadership, and deep belief in our mission shaped our organization in everlasting ways. Over the years, Mary Ann served with distinction in numerous leadership roles, including Secretary, Treasurer, and President of the Board, always approaching her responsibilities with professionalism, humility, joy, and compassion.
Mary Ann’s life was one of service to this organization, our community, and to the people she cared about so deeply. We are profoundly grateful for the privilege of working alongside her and are incredibly proud to have had her as a dedicated member of our Board of Directors. Her presence, guidance, and friendship will be deeply missed.
Mary Ann’s wake will take place on Thursday, January 8, from 4 to 7 pm at Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home in New Bedford. The funeral will be at St. Gregory’s in Dorchester on Friday, January 9, at 10 am.
