Home > News > Stop the Hate – MAPS Statement to Our Community

The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) fully and strongly condemns the increasing hate, violence, and xenophobia toward Asians, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in the US and the world, further exposed by the March 16, 2021 murder in Atlanta of eight people, including six Asian American women.

MAPS also denounces the hate-filled, racist rhetoric against Asians and Asian-Americans we have all witnessed since the start of the coronavirus pandemic more than a year ago, which has fueled the growing xenophobia we now face.

We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the AAPI community in this painful time and urge our community members to join us as we denounce racism, hate, and xenophobia, wherever and whenever we may witness it.
