The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) invites the community to attend its 4th Annual Chip In for Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, September 10, 2021, at the Juniper Hill Golf Course in Northborough, MA.

The fundraising tournament supports the health and social services organization’s Senior Center in Cambridge, which resumed in-person services in June of 2021 after more than a year of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. The MAPS Cambridge Senior Center is a linguistically and culturally competent space designed to prevent isolation and promote wellness through case management and daily social and recreational activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, and nutritious meals.

Co-chaired by Rui Domingos, CEO of MIT Federal Credit Union, and Walter Sousa, owner of Inman Square Wine & Spirits, the tournament will kick off at 8 AM with a breakfast reception and registration, followed by a shotgun start at 9 AM, and then a Luncheon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. There are currently close to 80 registered golfers, and there are still a few spots available. Interested players are encouraged to visit the tournament’s website at www.maps-inc.org/golf to register their foursomes.

“The pandemic proved just how important MAPS’ work with our seniors truly is,” said Rui Domingos. “Now that they are able to safely gather at the Center once again, we want to make sure MAPS has all the resources they need to make up for lost time.”

“We were so proud to see how MAPS quickly adapted their Elder Services program during the pandemic to provide regular remote support to the many seniors who rely on the Center,” said Walter Sousa. “It’s our responsibility as a community to make sure that organizations doing this crucial work receive all the support they need.”

There are several sponsorship opportunities available, ranging from Titanium Sponsorship at $2500, to Tee/ Green Sponsorships at $250. Businesses and organizations interested in becoming sponsors should visit maps-inc.org/golf or contact Andrew Carten, MAPS Development Manager, at 617-864-7600, or acarten@maps-inc.org.
