Greater Boston / Full-Time (minimum 35 hours/ week)
Under the direction of the Director of Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services, the Advocate will be responsible for providing assistance to victims/ survivors of DV&SA through: intakes, assessments, support referrals, support groups, follow-ups, and other necessary services.
- Conduct client intakes and assessment
- Provide crisis intervention and support services
- Advocate and accompany clients to courts or other important appointments
- Manage caseload in a timely and effective way
- Interpret and translate for clients as needed
- Collect data and submit monthly data reports to the director of the program
- Participate in outreach activities to educate and inform Brazilian, Cape Verdean and Portuguese immigrant communities about domestic violence and sexual assault, and services available
Preferred: Experience providing domestic violence & sexual assault services, and performing community outreach, desirable, but training will be provided. Bachelor’s degree with three to five years experience in social services. Counseling/ direct client services experience preferred, along with knowledge of the Brazilian, Cape Verdean and Portuguese communities.
Required: Bilingual/Bicultural in Portuguese/ English, strong oral and written communications skills, and ability to work in stressful situations. Starting annual salary range commensurable with experience: $40.000-$46.000.
