The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) invites the community to attend its highly anticipated 6th Annual Chip-In For Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, September 8th, 2023. The event will be held at the Juniper Hill Golf Course in Northborough, MA, and aims to raise funds to support the health and social services organization’s senior center in Cambridge.

Co-chaired by Rui Domingos, CEO of MIT Federal Credit Union, and Walter Sousa, owner of Inman Square Wine & Spirits, the tournament is a fun-filled day for both avid golfers and casual players, featuring a challenging course, exciting competitions, and an online auction. The event will kick off at 8 AM with a breakfast reception and registration, followed by a shotgun start at 9 AM, and then a Luncheon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Interested sponsors and players are encouraged to visit the tournament’s website at www.maps-inc.org/golf to register.

“Whether you join us as a golfer or support us as a business owner, we hope to see you on the greens as we gather to help MAPS continue to make a true impact in the wellbeing of our seniors,” said Rui Domingos.

“Not only is the tournament a fun way to support MAPS, but it’s also an opportunity to make new friendships and connections with like-minded individuals who share a passion for giving,” added Walter Sousa.

Building on the success of the 5th anniversary edition in 2022, which raised enough funds to expand the operations of the senior center to five days a week from the previous four, this year’s tournament aims to raise $75K to enable MAPS to continue to serve the almost 50 seniors who attend the center daily with the quality of care that they need and deserve.

“Our immigrant communities are aging and many of our seniors continue to deal with many serious issues, from financial and housing instability to loneliness and lack of support, which is why the work we do at the center is increasingly vital,” said Paulo Pinto, MPA, MAPS CEO. “That’s why we are so grateful to our communities for always stepping up to support our seniors, and we are confident that our business leaders will help us reach this year’s ambitious fundraising goal.”

The MAPS Cambridge Senior Center is a linguistically and culturally competent space designed to prevent isolation and promote wellness through comprehensive case management and daily social and recreational activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, and nutritious meals. It currently serves almost 50 Portuguese-speaking seniors from Brazil, Portugal, Cabo Verde, and other countries from Monday through Friday.

There are several sponsorship opportunities available, ranging from Presenting Sponsorship at $5000 to Tee/ Green Sponsorships at $300.
